About the role 

We’re looking to add a highly talented Junior Web / App Developer to our established development team. This is an exciting opportunity for a tech savvy developer, with a solid digital understanding, to gain experience in a creative and challenging environment. Working on fantastic products including web platforms and apps.

  Role requirements 

  • You’ve got some examples of websites and apps you’ve built that you’re eager to show us
  • A desire to develop your skills in a professional and creative environment
  • Curiosity and a love of problem-solving
  • The ability to work effectively within a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills 

Your Skills 

We typically develop using PHP, MySQL and Laravel on the back-end, with React being our choice of JavaScript framework on the front-end. Some experience of either our preferred back-end or front-end technologies is required for this role.

Bonus points if you have

If you’ve got any knowledge of version control using Git that’ll stand you in an excellent position.

This is a varied role with lots of opportunity to learn new skills, with the longer-term potential to develop further within a creative digital studio as part of a project management / client services team. What you will do on a daily basis:

  • Provide administrative support to the Project Management team including; project scheduling, note taking, co-ordinating client calls, general organisation of documentation, validation of data and reports and keeping systems up to date with activities and client communications
  • Help to co-ordinate on-time delivery of pitches and proposals including proof reading and validation of estimates and schedules to support Business Development
  • Write and drive social media content plans across the business, working closely with our Product Owners
  • Participate in weekly Client Services meetings checking and chasing on action, taking meeting minutes
  • Organise a multitude of studio activities including; preparing devices for testing and participating in internal QA/testing

You’ll be managing exceptionally talented creative and technical teams working across a wide range of clients, from big name global brands to exciting tech start-ups, in the delivery of a variety of digital projects, including web platforms, apps and games.

Aspects of the role include; project plans, statements of work, financial reconciliations, project reporting and resource management, working closely with the client, the leadership team and product owners, providing weekly status updates and dealing with any barriers faced by the project team. This is an opportunity for a motivated and organised Project Manager with a genuine love of technology to really have a huge impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end project delivery, from pitch to release
  • Resource planning and scheduling of projects
  • Working collaboratively with the studio leads to scope and estimate projects and ensure quality is high
  • Take technical direction from Developers and relay to the client
  • Working alongside the Client Services team to ensure projects are being delivered on time, on budget and reviewed against scope
  • Running client meetings/status/workshops ensuring objectives are being met – including assessing project risks, change control and escalating issues
  • Building a strong partnership with your clients – ensuring communication is regular, clear and work is collaborative
  • Keeping the team on track and motivated
  • Financial reporting including project overrun/underrun, work in progress, raising and tracking spend against purchase orders etc.

We’d love to hear from you if you are:

  • From a software development background – web build and app projects (and/or) games projects
  • Have experience of managing external clients and project teams
  • Have experience in managing projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Comfortable taking the lead in daily stand-ups, sprint refinement, backlog and sprint ends
  • Good working knowledge of JIRA and Kanban boards
  • You’re a natural collaborator and team player, with the ability to lead and guide your teams
  • Exceptionally organised, well prepared and thorough
  • Passionate about digital tech and always looking to learn and discover
  • A clear and concise communicator – able to be assertive yet friendly
  • Efficient, highly organised and have a solid understanding of digital products
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Project

  • Have project management certification(s) (in either Agile or Waterfall)
  • Have used Traffic LIVE or other studio scheduling tools

We are looking for an artist who can cover the basics in everything from character design to environments and gameplay.  With the ability to take ideas from concept to completion, but also be able to follow an existing ‘look and feel’ to build upon an initial style set. As well as be able to support the design and development of asset creation for other digital projects and their requirements in studio. You’ll be given creative direction and support from our in-house project teams to help you deliver core project requirements.

This is a great opportunity to integrate yourself in the team. Working onsite in our Leamington Spa Studio with fish in a bottle’s fantastic studio team, you’ll quickly understand the project and client requirements, taking an active part in discussions and the game deliverables.

The must-have skills required to do the job

  • Proven game art / design experience (industry / freelance / work placement) and an up to date portfolio packed with diverse game art
  • Basic gameplay user interface and interaction design
  • Experience of Adobe CC – Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and After Effects
  • Ability to animate in 2D (game sprites etc.)
  • Experience of creating and animating 3D assets
  • Ability to take an idea from concept to completion
  • Work with styleguides, brand assets and follow an existing ‘look and feel’
  • Take a creative brief or conceptual designs and execute additional page designs, modules or features and functionality
  • Basic understanding of design principles and responsive design
  • Create basic moodboards and illustrations to communicate creative concepts
  • Create new and engaging ideas for intuitive user experiences
  • Flexibility to the needs of the project is a must

A nice to have but not essential would be experience in Premier, Unity, Maya LT or DragonBones, and the ability to create storyboards.

About the role

  • Take a project from concept to completion – not only with the creative thinking and planning but with the visualisation of screens and stylesheets too

Role requirements

  • Proven UX / UI design experience and an up to date portfolio packed with client focused projects to demonstrate this
  • Confident and comfortable with presenting creative solutions and talking through your design process, both internally and externally to clients
  • An excellent understanding of style guidelines, design processes and creative workflow
  • A passion for digital design and interactive content
  • Showing flexibility to the needs of the project is a must

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe CC suite, Sketch and Invision
  • A solid understanding of usability, UX, UI and interaction design
