Sony Pictures have launched a promotion website for its latest art house film YES, by Sally Potter.
The promotional website has been designed to build a community around the film and fish in a bottle have been asked to deliver the Flash technology element.
The site offers routes for people to discuss the film's content and structure with the author Sally Potter and other people involved in the production.
Flash has been used to provide communication channels between elements such as the movie player and audio player. The result is a smooth and polished experience with minimal streaming delay and no interruptions when navigating.
Drew Wilkins, Account Director at fish in a bottle commented, "We've used Flash primarily because the installation base means that far more people will be able to view the site's content without installing third party plugins. It's also easier to control the balance of streaming and encoding quality than it is with some other content delivery technology. With the YES project we've been very conscious of the fact that the community we're helping to develop isn't likely to be populated by technical people. Essentially it's been about providing a slick experience to as many people a possible."
The website was designed and commissioned through Solid State Group. The Flash technology was provided by fish in a bottle.
Sony Pictures YES went on general release in the UK in February 2005.
